Does the law of attraction work? I hope you’ve never asked that question, because it would be the same thing as asking if the law of gravity works. If you’ve ever seen someone jumping off of a cliff and falling to the ground, even if you’ve never jumped off of a cliff yourself, you are trusting that the same law of gravity would apply to your own body and, therefore, fall to the ground as well. Don’t you?
Obviously, people don’t doubt that the law of gravity works for anyone, even if you were a bird and forgot to spread your wings. However, some people doubt the law of attraction to be real, because they were never really able to attract what they want in life. But is that the proof that the law of attraction doesn’t work or doesn’t exist?
Certainly not; it’s just that you’ve misunderstood the law of attraction and used it against you instead of using it for you. Once you are able to see that, you can reverse the results of the law of attraction and start attracting what you want versus what you don’t want.
Here are three reasons why you have been using the law of attraction the wrong way and how you can fix it.
1- You have a misunderstanding of what the law of attraction really is
When I talk about the law of attraction to someone who has never heard of it, they usually look at me with round eyes thinking that I am crazy or trying to sell them something. They just don’t know that the law of attraction is simply one of the laws of the universe.
Then, if I explain to them what the law of attraction is and that it’s part of our universal laws, they usually still have a misunderstanding about it. For people who hear about the law of attraction for the first time, it takes a bit of getting used to, in order to fully grasp it.
The two main misunderstandings that I have observed is that either people are not aware that they have been under the influence of the law of attraction their whole life since they were born. Or, they are thinking that the law of attraction starts and ends on command only when they are conscious about it. Both such beliefs are false, of course.
What is the solution to this misunderstanding?
Always remember that everything you are experiencing today, you attracted yesterday. We are magnets of what we have and experience in our life.
I am sure that if you really take the time to take a good look at your life and think back about your state of mind and thought pattern through the years you will clearly see that you have attracted what you have today. The good, the bad and the indifferent. Try it, don’t lie to yourself, and you will see clearly that you have attracted the life that you have today.
2- You are not using the law of attraction to your advantage
As I mentioned above, it’s not about if you are using the law of attraction or not, because you do, even if you don’t know that you do, but you may be thinking that you are trying to attract what you want when you are really not.
How is that possible?
People do that all the time, unless they have finally understood how this works. Let say you want to attract a brand new car, but for now you are still driving your old car. Every time you see your brand new car somewhere driven by someone else you feel the pangs of jealousy and you feel “bad” inside thinking, when am I ever going to get that new car? If this rings true to you, this is why you are not attracting what you want. On the other hand you are doing a great job at attracting what you don’t want.
Why is this so?
Because you are attracting what you focus on, either consciously or subconsciously. If my little story above sounds familiar, you are focusing on “lack” and feeling it all through your mind and body. You don’t have that car, you feel sad, and even jealous when you see someone else driving that car. In other words, your vibrations are negative. You will attract what you vibrate.
What is the solution to attract what you want versus what you don’t want?
Feel as if you already had the car. Feel the car with all your five senses. See it (visualize it), smell it, hear it and yes, taste the joy of having that new car. How does it feel to drive it? Act as if you were already in possession of your new car. Acting as if you already had what you want mixed with the right emotions is the only way you are going to attract it. Remember, focus!
3- You have not understood what is the time buffer
The law of attraction works with a time buffer. What this means is that what you focus on today you will attract tomorrow. What you have focused on yesterday is what you have today. The time buffer is actually a protection for us, so we don’t have things we attract falling on our laps instantly. The law of attraction gives us some time to adapt and prepare more smoothly to receive what we have focused on.
If you don’t understand the time buffer you may get very impatient about what you want and, therefore, create a blockage that will only delay what you want.
To take the new car example again, if you have thought about and visualized that car over and over, and then say, where is my car? I’ve visualized it and thought about it every day, but it’s still not here! In such case, you are attracting the “lack of the car”, not “the car”, because your subconscious mind is saying, it’s not here!
What is the solution to your impatience?
Remember the time buffer. The law of attraction needs a time buffer to bring you what you’ve been focusing on. Once you’ve done your attraction work, you need to relax and release. The universe will do the rest and bring you what you want in due time.
Every time you feel impatient, replace the negative thought/feeling with another positive thought /feeling. Catch yourself in the act like a kid in the cookie jar. Don’t stay in the negative vibrations and move on to something better, something that feel good instead.
The law of attraction is always at work; just make sure you are on the right side of it by using it to your own advantage.
