Seven Simple Wellbeing Tips For A Happy And Relaxed Christmas

Welcome to our site! Thanks for visiting and we wish you a safe and happy day.

pre Christmas Shopping...

Christmas, like all festive holidays, is supposed to be a time of good cheer, laughter, merriment and joy, yet, for most working mothers, the run-up to Christmas is fraught with extra stress and anxiety. On the one hand you look forward to a break from work and spending quality time with loved ones and closest friends yet the pre-Christmas rush of school nativity plays, carol concerts, buying Christmas presents, Christmas food shopping and the crowning glory of all-finding something to wear for the Office Christmas Party- takes its toll and requires you to be even more flexible with your time and energy.

As usual finding the balance between work values and family commitments can be a struggle and leave you feeling overworked, stressed and exhausted. Follow the seven simple wellbeing tips to keep your energy levels up and life on a more even keel.

Seven Simple Wellbeing Tips For A Happy And Relaxed Christmas

1. Breathe

Throughout your day, take regular “breath breaks” to revitalise and energise your body. Learning to breathe well is a skill. When you breathe deeply you activate the parasympathetic nervous system which allows the rest and digest response to flow through your body.

2. Treat yourself to a DIY Facial Steam

A facial steam releases stale oils, opens up your pores and eliminates impurities. To steam your face, fill a small bowl with hot (not boiling) water. If you have fresh herbs, such as lavender, chamomile, peppermint (or you can sprinkle a few drops of essential oils) wash and chop them up and add to the bowl. Lean over your bowl with your face in the steam. Drape a towel over your head and the bowl and stay under the towel for about 10-20 minutes. You can always top-up the water if it cools down. When you have finished steaming, wipe your face with a damp cloth and pat dry.

3. Sprinkle lavender essential oil on your pillow or dab a few drops on your wrists.

4. Give yourself a foot massage

Wash your feet in warm water and sprinkle a few drops of your favourite essential oil in the water. Dry and massage your feet with a sensual cream.

5. Drink more water and less alcohol Sip water regularly throughout your day. This helps to hydrate and nourish your brain and speeds up the elimination of toxins from your body.

6. Snack on more energy boosting foods such as avocadoes, blueberries, almonds.

7. Stretch more Throughout your day weave in simple yoga relaxation exercises to ease out the build up of tension and stress in your neck, back and shoulders

And now I invite you, for the next seven days, chose a different tip for each day of the week, treat yourself well and in so doing you feel happier relaxed and more able to keep your life in balance.

I’d love to hear from you. What’s your #1 tip to have a relaxed and happy Christmas? Share your thoughts in the comment box below.

Thank you and have restful day.
