Secret to Success

Find the Secret to Success

The world hasn’t known a greater pursuit than the pursuit of success.  What is it that separates those who can and do accomplish their goals from those who can’t or don’t?  Why do some people seem to be destined for greatness and others unable to get their own lives in order?  There is a secret to success, but it lies not in some hidden text – it’s hiding in plain sight.

How We See Success

Often we find ourselves looking in from the outside on the success of others.  Think of all the times we’ve wished we could be as good or as successful as someone else at any given task.  Be it financially, physically, spiritually or anything else, the success of others always seems to happen before our own.

Watching others succeed where we fail is painful.  It often evokes feelings of envy or jealousy.  We seek excuses for our own shortcomings and end up feeling empty inside.  It’s these emotions that lead to the demonization of the successful.  We seek to punish those who have experienced success in areas that we have not.  We make assumptions about their weaknesses to make ourselves feel better about ourselves.  We try convincing ourselves that their success could have only come to them unethically.  We remove accountability for our failures by attributing their achievements to buzz words like “circumstances” or “genetics” and we blame our shortcomings on a lack of the same things.  We shroud ourselves in a cloud of deception to ease the pain we feel from our own shortcomings.

The Secret to Success

But what if there was a simple formula for success that “the successful” know, and it had nothing to do with circumstances or genetics?  How much would it be worth to you?  How angry would it make you to learn that you’ve known the secret all along?

Unfortunately, we often equate the word “secret” with “shortcut”.  If that lie has caught hold of your heart, then shakes it immediately.  There is no shortcut to success.

The only thing secret about this secret is that it’s hiding in plain sight.  In fact, it’s the elephant in the room.  And generations upon generations have increasingly wasted their lives trying to find ways around it.  But the true secret today is that there is no way around it.  You can’t avoid it if you want to be successful.  And it’s time the world stopped trying to fight it.

So what is this secret?  Well if you’ve followed my previous posts, you’ll know that I enjoy videos.  I’m going to let this video answer that question for me 🙂

This is what the secret to success boils down to…

…A lot of people just disregard it as “they had the genetics to be there”, or they’ll play the steroid card and say that they cheated to get to where they were.  But what a lot of people don’t realize is that these people gave it their heart and their soul throughout every single rep, throughout every single set, throughout every single gym session, every single day for weeks, for months, for years, for decades, to get to where they were.  That they weren’t just going to go through the motions but they were going to break through all mental barriers to get to where they wanted to be.  And that’s the difference between the successful people and those who are not…”

Final Thoughts

Think about where you can apply this in your life.  Whether it’s building the body you’ve always wanted, building the bank account you’ve always wanted, or building the life you’ve always wanted, there isn’t a single aspect of your life where this doesn’t apply.  That is the key to success.  That is the big secret.  The secret is hard work.  The secret is a greater productivity to time ratio.  In this equation, time is the constant.  We’re all given the exact same amount each day.  It’s what we do with that time that makes the difference.

Don’t spend your time trying to excuse your failures.  It degrades you as a person.  Stop pointing out flaws in the successes of others.  Instead, focus your efforts on becoming the person you want to be.  Now you know the secret, and there is no other way.  Please help spread the word.

  1. Well done! The key that they mention, that really strikes a cord with me, is breaking through the “mental barriers”. It’s not about barriers others place on you, but the ones we place on ourselves that keep us from succeeding in whatever endeavor we pursue. Consistency coupled with passion and integrity can break those barriers. Easier said than done, however, the important part is just moving forward and pushing through!
